The systematic documentation of Paris and its sprawling periphery from ground and air exposed a beautiful complexity stretching beyond the typical mental image of the city. The pictures captured over two months in early 2009 highlight both the delights and horrors of Parisian urbanism, opening views on its challenges and opportunities. Commissioned by Jean Nouvel in support of his proposal for “Le Grand Paris”, a large selection of the images were exhibited in his 13-screen mixed-media installation at the Cité de L'Architecture, and many more published in the accompanying 500-page catalog.
